Anthony Markiewicz, DDS, FAGD
Welcome to our practice! I am honored that so many people have trusted my team and me to provide them with their dental care since 1988. As much as I enjoy providing people with beautiful smiles, I am most grateful for the privilege of being allowed to share in so many of our patient's lives. My life has been enhanced by the relationships we have developed with our patients. Many have been with our practice since childhood, and we have all grown together. We have shared the joys of the birth of children, graduations, new careers, and marriages and we have shared the sorrows of loss. It is a privilege to be allowed to share in the lives of so many wonderful people.
I have dedicated myself to making our practice worthy of your trust. That begins with assembling a great team. Our team is simply the best, just read our reviews! Each member of our team shares my passion for dentistry, and more importantly, they understand how we can help improve our patients lives through dentistry. Everyone on our team is committed to providing our patients with the best care possible while providing a positive and welcoming experience. We think of each other and our patients as family. We want everyone who enters our doors to feel at home and completely at ease!
My team and I are also committed to continuous learning. Dentistry is a rapidly changing profession. In order to provide excellent dental care, we must stay current with the latest research and technology. I have made regular continuing education a priority for both myself and my team. Evidence of that commitment came in 2005 when I was awarded the prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. Fewer than 6% of dentists have earned the AGD Fellowship. In 2013 I was awarded a Fellowship in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. I regularly attend the Pankey Institute, and was awarded a certificate from the L.D. Pankey Dental Foundation in February 2006 for my commitment to ethical and comprehensive dental care. I am currently participating in Continuing Education Workshops at the prestigious Spear Center for Advanced Dental Education. I am also a member of the Elite Dental Group.
I grew up in Norridge, Illinois. I attended Holy Cross High School and Loyola University before heading to the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. After graduation in 1985, I proudly served my country for three years as a Dental Officer in the United States Navy. I opened my Mundelein Dental office in 1988.
I am also an active member of the following professional organizations:
- American Dental Association
- Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry
- Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Disciplines
- Illinois State Dental Society
- Chicago Dental Society
- Seattle Study Club
- Academy of General Dentistry
- American Academy of Implant Dentistry
- American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology
- Pankey Alumni Association

Our Family in Galena
Most recent family wedding: Erica and David
When I'm not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife (Elizabeth), four children, three in-laws, and two grandchildren are the greatest gifts I have ever received. Two of our children, Michelle and David, share my passion for dentistry. Michelle is a Dental Hygienist, practicing in Des Moines Iowa and Dr. David Markiewicz completed Dental School in 2019 and joined our team.
So, when I am not in our Mundelein Dental Office, I still have my hands full and love every moment!

I train and regularly compete in triathlons and marathons. I compete in 4 to 5 races a year. In 2011, I completed my first Ironman 70.3 Race and completed my first Chicago Marathon in 2012. I also enjoy golfing and reading.
I am currently a member of the Crossroads Runners Team from Old St. Pat's Catholic Church in Chicago, helping to eradicate poverty in Chicago. Three of our children, Michelle, David, and Joseph, have also completed multiple Chicago Marathons.
Celebrating a completed Chicago Marathon
Locally, I have been involved at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church and at Carmel Catholic High School. At Carmel, I completed six years of service as a member of the Board of Directors at which time I chaired the Advancement Committee which oversaw the campaign funding the Fine Arts Center. As a member and President of the Pastoral Council at St. Mary's, I was involved with the planning of the new Church dedicated in 2002.
I am a former member of the University of Illinois Alumni Board and am a current member of the Chicago Dental Society Mediation Committee. I am also committed to our community and provide support whenever I can, including having volunteered regularly at the HealthReach Clinic in Mundelein. In 2013, I participated in a dental mission to the Dominican Republic. It was a very rewarding experience. We provided care these patients would never have been able to receive.
